The Kaduna State Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, has enjoined Nigerians to ignore what he described as “some Abuja commercial clergy” who have been recruited to discredit the serious challenges Southern Kaduna people are going through in the hands of bandits.

In a statement he issued on Sunday in Kaduna, Rev. Hayab said he has watched and listened with dismay to how some Abuja commercial clergy have been recruited to discredit a serious security challenge that Kaduna State people, especially Christians, are going through.

Rev. Hayab lamented that these Abuja commercial pastors have been hired by the sponsors of the mayhem that Kaduna people, especially Christians, are going through to say that the killings in Southern Kaduna has been exaggerated.

Rev. Hayab queried the alleged exaggeration, saying 120 pupils of Bethel Baptist School are in the bush with bandits and neither the government nor security agencies have done enough to rescue them.

He invited the pastors, whom he said value money more than human lives, to come and visit each community and homes of victims in Zangon Kataf and other communities that have been bedeviled with killings and arson in the past weeks.

He explained that the people are known for love and honesty, adding that they are only crying out because their farmlands, homes, schools, and people are in danger and have lost too many lives and properties to the ongoing carnage.

He said CAN is calling on the government at all levels to act responsibly and stop further killings in our state.

“We will continue to mobilize our fellow faithful to work and pray for peace that is built on justice and equity,” he assured.
