Another Titans COVID-19 case puts Bills game in jeopardy 1

Sunday’s Titans-Bills game is now very much in doubt as the COVID-19 outbreak within the Tennessee organization continued on Thursday.

Yet another Titans player tested positive for the virus, ESPN reported, bringing the number of players/staff members to a whopping 23 since Sept. 24.

With the Titans’ facility still closed, it’s hard to envision Sunday’s NFL Week 5 game going on as scheduled. Last Sunday’s Titans-Steelers game was postponed due to the rash of Titans’ positive tests. ESPN reported there is talk of the Titans-Bills game getting moved to Monday or Tuesday, and next Thursday’s Bills-Chiefs game getting pushed back to Saturday, Oct. 17.

Wide receiver Corey Davis was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 lost after testing positive on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Titans could be facing discipline from the league. Officials were in Nashville last Friday to investigate whether COVID-19 protocols were violated by the team. Titans insider Paul Kuharsky reported on Wednesday several players had an organized workout at a local high school last week when the team was supposed to be in quarantine.

It remains to be seen what penalties the NFL is willing to enforce. The league did send out a memo on Monday that said violators of COVID-19 protocol could face the loss of draft picks or even forfeiture of a game.

There was some good news on the coronavirus front. No Patriots tested positive for the virus on Thursday, a day after cornerback Stephen Gilmore was found to have the virus. The Patriots-Chiefs game was moved from Sunday to Monday after Cam Newton tested positive.
