COVID-19: Provide screening equipment at border communities- Kwara assembly task state government

Kwara State House of Assembly, on Wednesday, asked the state government to provide screening equipment at border communities in the state.

It also urged the state government to work towards having a testing centre in the state.

Reading the resolutions of the House on a motion on the public health crisis ravaging the globe, the Speaker, Engr Yakubu Danladi Salihu, commended the state COVID-19 technical committee for the proactive approach which has helped in gradually easing the crisis in the state.

Hon. Saeed Popoola moved the motion while Hon Abdullahi H. Danbaba seconded it.

The House among other demands urged the people of Kwara State to continue to adhere strictly to the safety protocols against the deadly Coronavirus pandemic put in place by the National Centre for Disease Control, (NCDC) and the state COVID-19 technical committee.

Also contributing to the debate on the motion, the legislators commended governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for taking measures to ensure that Kwarans are safe.

Hon. Owolabi Abdulrazaq, House Committee Chairman on health and environment, noted that the governor had before the first official COVID-19 death in the state, constituted a committee to combat the pandemic in the interest of the citizens.
