Following the decision by the national body of Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) to shelve the planned industrial strike scheduled for Monday, the Nigeria Labour Union (NLC), Kaduna State Council has urged all its affiliates to obey the directive of the national body and wait for the next line of action, pending the meeting of the National Working Committee.

DAILY POST recalls that the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) had scheduled today, September 28 for a nationwide rally to protest increases in the prices of petrol and electricity.

However, the unions suspended the strike and rally after a late-night meeting with a federal government team at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

They also resolved to review their decision in another two weeks to see if their agreement with the government was being complied with.

Addressing members of union who converged on the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, Kaduna State office, the Kaduna NLC Chairman, Comrade Ayuba Suleiman who relayed the official message to shelve the planned protest and strike prevailed on the union members to obey the directive and decision.

“The message came to us this morning. As you can see, you can’t rule the fact that we are ready, we are on ground, and we have the capacity to mobilise Kaduna workers and the masses for the protest.
