The Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, has called Nigerians to employ new ways to build a strong, united, indivisible and prosperous Nigeria.

Oyetola made the call while congratulating Nigeria and Osun State on the nation’s 60th Independence Anniversary.

Expressing insistence in love and unity, Governor Oyetola stated that employing dialogue, especially at these challenging times will help Nigeria achieve the peace, unity, national integration and prosperity that it desires as a nation.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan, the Governor maintained that Nigeria while believing in shared value have collectively survived the vagaries of a civil war, political impasse, insecurity issues and economic upheavals in the past adding that staying together could waddle through the country from the present challenges.

Oyetola thanked the People of Osun for their love, understanding and cooperation, assuring them of the avowed resolve of Government to continue to deliver peace, opportunities and prosperity at these challenging and austere times.

“As we celebrate the 60th Independence Anniversary of Nigeria, I congratulate Mr President, Muhammadu Buhari, the Government and People of Nigeria. Ours have been 60 years of opportunities, landmarks and challenges. But we have overcome the centrifugal forces of a civil war, political impasse, insecurity issues and economic upheavals through resilience, shared values and collective will as a people.

”We have in the last 21 years shaken off political uncertainties and run unbroken democracy. During these years, we have spoken as one people and given to ourselves self-government and nurtured the tenets of democracy. This should convince and encourage us that we have what it takes to survive our current challenges and come out stronger and better.”

In the same vein, his deputy, Benedict Alabi in his statement Thursday, signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Olaniyi Ajibola, described Nigeria’s existence as an uncommon grace for a political entity of over 250 ethnic groups and over 300 languages with highly sophisticated people.

He said, “Sincerely, our differences would naturally form strength in development and sustainable growth, if only we genuinely understand our differences and accordingly respect it for mutual respect.

“Speaking philosophically, therefore, for every tunnel of a nation like ours, there is always a light of unimaginable intensity.”

They, however, congratulated Nigerians and people of Osun State on independent celebration and for championing the cause of peace, unity and progress for the development of the country.
