Officers from Toms River bought 50 pies each from six local pizzerias, which they’re slated to begin supplying to families on Thursday, NJ.com first reported.
“As Covid-19 consumes reality in our area, it’s impact on families and local businesses is troubling,” the Toms River Police Department said in an Instagram post. “Please join us in our #keepinitlocal initiative. Beginning this Thursday March 26th, the following 6 locally owned pizzerias will be providing 300 pre-purchased large pizzas to Toms River families during these tough times. ”
The Toms River Police Benevolent Association, Toms River Fraternal Order of Police and Toms River Police Foundation purchased the pizzas from Brooklyn Square Pizza, Positano’s Pizza, Charlie’s Pizza, Capone’s Pizza, Giampapa’s Pizzaria and Al’s Pizza.
“We are here for our community to support our residents and our local businesses. Stay safe, stay smart and stay strong! #keepinitlocal,” the post continued.
Each family will be limited to one free pizza on a first come first serve basis.
