Why a royal reunion with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may not happen 1

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might not be getting a royal reunion soon after all — with a source close to the couple calling it “a little presumptuous” to assume they will fly home for Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were widely rumored to be heading home from California after it emerged they had been invited to attend the Trooping of the Colour, the Queen’s annual birthday parade, on June 12 in London.

The Queen — who will be turning 95 — was said to want as many royals as possible at the event, which is the first national celebration in the UK since the beginning of the pandemic.

However, a source close to the couple was quick to distance them from earlier reports that said they had “set their sights” on a return and attending “lots of family events,” The Telegraph said.

“It’s a little presumptuous for any of us to be speculating about whether we can travel anywhere this summer,” the insider told the UK paper.

The rumored reunion would already be more than a year after the duke and duchess were last with the other royals. The couple’s last public appearance in the UK before “Megxit” was in March last year.

Britain is currently under a strict lockdown — one even banning different households from socializing — and a final decision on the Trooping of the Colour parade will be made in the spring, The Telegraph said.

Markle was also due to fly to the UK for her ongoing case against the Mail on Sunday newspaper for printing her letter to her father when he refused to come to her royal wedding.

That journey has also been delayed, however, with the trial now adjourned until the fall, according to the report.
