John McCain’s widow was censured by Arizona state Republicans for failing to support President Trump — and she took it in stride.

“It is a high honor to be included in a group of Arizonans who have served our state and our nation so well … and who, like my late husband John, have been censured by the AZGOP. I’ll wear this as a badge of honor,” Cindy McCain tweeted Saturday evening.

By midnight, the remark earned 125,000 likes on Twitter, where “Mrs. McCain” was trending.

Trump had infamously disparaged McCain’s Vietnam war hero and US senator husband — who was captured when his plane was shot down by North Vietnamese soldiers during the war, leading to years of torture.

Trump once claimed John McCain was only considered a hero because he’d been captured, adding, “I like people that weren’t captured.”

Arizona state Republicans formally censured Cindy McCain Saturday because she had crossed party lines to endorse Joe Biden for president, “has supported globalist policies and candidates” and “condemned President Trump for his criticism of her husband and erroneously placed behaviors over actual presidential results,” reported.

When endorsing Biden in September, Cindy McCain noted he was the only candidate in the race who stands up for our values as a nation.”

The party also censured Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, because he restricted “personal liberties” with emergency rules during the pandemic, and former Sen. Jeff Flake, an Arizonan whose alleged wrongs included having “condemned the Republican Party, rejected populism, and rejected the interests of the American people over globalist interests.”

In response, Flake tweeted two photos of himself at Biden’s inauguration standing with Cindy McCain and Ducey, with the caption, “Good company.”

“If condoning President Trump’s behavior is required to stay in the AZGOP’s good graces, I’m just fine being on the outs,” Flake also wrote.

Arizona proved a crucial swing state which Biden won.
