Sir David Attenborough, 94, gets COVID-19 vaccine 1

Beloved 94-year-old naturalist Sir David Attenborough has received the COVID-19 vaccine, his spokesman confirmed Tuesday.

The wildlife expert famous for his TV documentaries is one of a number of high-profile Britons to have had the jab, including Queen Elizabeth II, who turns 95 this year, and her 99-year-old husband, Prince Philip.

It was not clear exactly when Attenborough got the first of two doses — nor which vaccine he received — but he recently admitted he was happy to be near the front of the line.

“At 94, I think I’m entitled,” he told The Telegraph in an interview last month.

He admitted he was squeamish about needles but was quick to dismiss the anti-vaxxer sentiment spreading across the UK.

“I’m sufficient of a scientist still, I hope, to realize this is the thing to do,” he said of getting the shot.

Britain has been battered hard by the pandemic, especially with the emergence last month of a new, highly contagious mutation that led to strict lockdowns just before Christmas.

The government has set a target of plans to vaccinate the elderly, the vulnerable and frontline workers — around 15 million people — by mid-February.

Three COVID-19 have been approved for us in the UK — Oxford-AstraZeneca, Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna.
