Video shows an 11-year-old Texas boy being pulled from a frozen pond by a rope after a teenager walking her dog spotted him and called for help.

The dramatic rescue was captured by Caitlyn Thomas, 18, who was out with her Labrador named Kroger on Wednesday when she saw the youngster trapped in ice in Jefferson, a town about 170 miles east of Dallas.

“I was playing on my phone and then I look up and I see this little image in the water and I walk up to it and realize it a little boy,” she told local outlet KTAL-TV.

“It instantly clicked in my brain like, ‘Oh my gosh, I have to help him!’”

The high school senior called out to the boy, but, “he wasn’t responding.”

“He was just looking at me,” she recalled, “It was scary.”

The teen said she first called 911 and tried knocking on neighbor’s doors, before reaching out to her grandfather, Randy Thomas, for help.

Video showed Randy, wearing only a T-shirt and jeans, wading out to the boy, who was chest-deep in the icy waters.

With the help of friends and neighbors, he was able to wrap a rope around the child and slowly drag him out of the frozen pond, according to the footage.

Meanwhile, Caitlyn’s pooch could be seen trying to claw into the ice to save the boy, too.

The teen posted footage of the rescue to Facebook, writing: “Well it’s not everyday you save a life.”

“Please keep this little boy in your prayers,” she added.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office told the outlet that the boy was checked out by emergency responders and expected to be OK.

“The quick thinking of the caller and the actions of the neighbor helped save the juvenile from further harm,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

The incident happened as Texas was hit by rare freezing temperatures and winter storms last week.
