Maria Menounos is mourning the death of her mother, Litsa Menounos, who succumbed to her battle with stage 4 brain cancer on Sunday.

Maria, 42, confirmed the heartbreaking news on Instagram, sharing an intimate black-and-white photo of herself hugging Litsa.

“RIP mom. 💔 god loved her so much he took her on greek easter,” the entertainment reporter wrote, adding in Greek, “Christ is risen mom.”

In the wake of Litsa’s passing, Maria received a slew of messages from her famous friends, including Zoe Saldana, Nikki Bella and Brie Bella.

“RIP ❤️ sending you and the fam so much love light and prayers. 🤍✨,” Nikki, 37, commented on Instagram, while twin sister Brie said she was also sending the Menounos family “love and prayers!!!! 💛🙏🏼.”

Saldana, 42, offered her “deepest condolences” to Maria and her loved ones.

The podcast host’s husband, Keven Undergaro, also posted a touching Instagram tribute to his late mother-in-law.

“Our hearts will always ache over your loss but you will never be forgotten,” Undergaro, 53, posted Sunday. “RIP my Litsa – God brought you home on Greek Easter for a reason – we love you forever :(.”

Maria initially confirmed in 2016 that Litsa had a brain tumor. A year later, the former E! personality was also diagnosed with a brain tumor as Litsa continued to battle stage 4 cancer.

In late 2020, Maria revealed on her “Better Together” podcast that Litsa’s brain tumor had grown.

“We got some not-so-great news on Monday, I think that’s Nov. 23, that my mom’s brain tumor was growing,” she explained at the time.

During that same episode, Maria revealed how both of her parents had also been hospitalized with COVID-19.

“It has been an incredible challenge,” she said. “You work so hard to keep your parents healthy and alive. I mean, at least I have. To see something like this happen.”

Maria later expressed gratitude for all of the support received.

“We’ve had incredible doctors, incredible nurses, incredible friends, and incredible family, that have lifted up and helped us in this time,” she said.
