No ticket for Tiger
I find it incomprehensible that Tiger Woods was not charged with speeding or reckless driving (“Tiger gets free drop,” April 8).

The facts warrant it. He was driving at a speed of 87 miles per hour in an area with a 45-mph limit.

The sheriff’s justification for not issuing a citation is absolutely asinine. He stated that, “We’re not going to issue a citation in an infraction not committed in a peace officer’s presence or independent witness, period.” That statement, taken to its logical conclusion, means that if there’s no peace officer and no independent witness, there’s no crime.
Whatever happened to evidence? There certainly was plenty of it in the vehicle’s black box. Woods definitely got a free drop from the rough in this incident.

Giuliani joke
Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s son Andrew announced himself as potential candidate for the Republican Party for governor (“Andrew Giuliani mulling run for New York governor,” April 7).

This must be a late April Fools’ joke. It belongs in the comics section.

Young Andrew is attempting to trade in on his famous father’s name. You need more than inheritance of a name to be successful in any enterprise. He has never built a business from scratch, created significant number of new good paying jobs, balanced a budget or managed a small government agency or business. There are hundreds of better qualified legitimate candidates with real experience to run for governor.

Andrew’s ego is greater than the current $212 billion state budget. He needs a reality check. State Republican Party leaders, office holders and registered GOP voters will pass on this offer. They know a joke when they see one.

Fauci’s fame
John Podhoretz’s excellent column regarding Dr. Anthony Fauci and his thirst for fame gave me food for thought (“Go Away, Dr. Fauci!”, PostOpinion, April 8).

I think there is a real fear that Dr. Fauci and other bureaucrats will become irrelevant and ignored, and that their clout will trickle to nothing. Sooner or later, or if they haven’t already, people will see through their scare tactics and openly challenge their messages.

The vaccines will reduce, and soon eliminate, the health protocols we’ve been practicing for the past year, regardless of what variant pops up.

Once we’ve reached herd immunity, and the disease is conquered, people will cast off their masks and congregate without regard to number or proximity.

Hope that the disease will run its course is something Dr. Fauci should be promoting far and wide. He should not be stoking constant fear to maintain his relevancy.

Subway hope
I was so disheartened after reading Tuesday’s Post.

Nothing but murder, mayhem, beatings, crazies and rising taxes. Is there no hope for my beloved New York City?

And then came redemption in the heartwarming story of two men finding a baby in the subway and adopting him (“The ride of their lives,” April 6). What a beautiful story.

These are three very lucky men, and we New Yorkers are fortunate to hear their story in the middle of the madness that surrounds us. With all the ugliness, this is a fairy tale that can give us all hope. Thank you for this wonderful and tender true life story.
