NYC power couple scoops up $50M penthouse for just $14M

Lovebirds Michael Nierenberg, of New Residential Investment Corp., and his wife Elin just bought a $50 million penthouse triplex in the heart of Greenwich Village for the crazy low price of $14 million, according to city property records. 

The penthouse is at 66 E. 11th St. It was originally listed in 2013 for $50 million. It later sold in 2016 for $26 million — almost half off.

The couple paid even less than its last asking price of $16.5 million. 

The price is also less than an entire townhouse that they bought from Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick.

The Nierenbergs just sold SJP that townhouse for $15.8 million, as we exclusively reported. 

Their new four-bedroom penthouse is in a 19th-century former factory where Leonardo DiCaprio, who reportedly invested in the building, once lived. It is 7,693 square feet with a 2,300-square-foot roof terrace.

It features standard luxuries, like an open chef’s kitchen, along with over the top features, like a solarium on the massive roof terrace, which is so big that there is even “potential” for a pool, according to the listing. 

The home made a splash when it first came on the market because the building, with just six residences, was marketed as a “wellness” sanctuary with vitamin C-infused showers and circadian lighting to help the wealthy owners sleep better.
