Aaron Rodgers clinched his seventh NFC North title Sunday since he became the Packers’ starting quarterback in 2008, but the 37-year-old says this year feels different.
“I’m enjoying it maybe as opposed to other years, maybe a little bit more — just because you never know what the future’s going to hold,” Rodgers said, per the Wisconsin State Journal. “I’m just really . . . it’s extra special this year. We had a moment in the locker room, I just kind of leaned back in my locker and just smiled and took it all in — with the music playing and the guys celebrating, it was just a special moment. And you realize, these are the times you’re going to miss when it’s all said and done.
“I’m just so happy for the opportunity to be a part of this squad and optimistic about what the future can hold with these guys.”
Since the Packers drafted quarterback Jordan Love No. 26 overall in April, Rodgers was reminded that his era in Green Bay won’t last forever. But Rodgers has responded with one of the best seasons of his career.
The Packers improved to 10-3 with their 31-24 win over the Lions on Sunday. Rodgers had another stellar performance, completing 26-of-33 passes for 290 yards and three touchdowns.
Sunday’s win also put the Packers into the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoff race.
