Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has already identified three players he will try to sign next year, according to Football London.
Arteta brought in centre-back, Gabriel from Lille, Chelsea winger Willian and Atletico Madrid midfielder ,Thomas Partey in the summer transfer window.
However, Arteta still has areas of his squad which he wants to strengthen in the short-term: a back-up centre forward and a versatile forward that can play across the front.
Red Bull Salzburg’s Dominik Szoboszlai has been watched by Arsenal for over a year and although he predominantly plays on the left flank, he can play also centrally.
While scouting Szoboszlai, Arsenal discovered striker, Patson Daka.
Daka replaced Erling Haaland at Salzburg and has caught the eye, scoring 38 goals in 52 appearances for the club.
Arteta was open to selling Alexandre Lacazette last summer, but the French striker ended up staying at the Emirates.
Eddie Nketiah has provided good competition for Lacazette, but Arteta wants another back-up.
Celtic striker, Odsonne Edouard, has a £30m price tag that put off the Gunners and other suitors in a pandemic-affected transfer market.
It’s likely that Arteta would have to sell again in January, if he wants to make additional signings, otherwise the Spaniard will have to wait until the end of the season before the club bolster his budget again.
