An MMA announcer was fired for choosing to attend the riot at the US Capitol on Jan. 6.
According to ESPN.com, Pat Miletich, the former UFC welterweight champion, longtime coach and announcer for Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) said he has lost his job
LFA said Miletich was removed from Friday’s broadcast and an investigation will follow.
“First and foremost, the LFA supports the participation of the constitutional right to peaceful protest,” the statement sent to ESPN read. “During preparations for the 2021 debut broadcast, it was brought to the LFA’s attention that photos of questionable nature surfaced on various social media outlets involving fight analyst Pat Miletich.
“While the LFA continues to investigate the situation, the decision was made to remove Mr. Miletich from broadcast duties for this Friday’s LFA 97 event.”
In a social media video, Miletich said the promotion told him they had to “distance themselves” from him due to pressure they were receiving. He posted photos of the day on his Facebook page. That included one image of him standing next to a man with the initials “RWDS.” That stands for “right wing death squad.”
“I want you guys to know that the people I walked with at the Capitol, none of them that I know of were involved in any of the violence,” Miletich said.
