‘Cyberpunk 2077’ developer scrambles to get game back to PlayStation 1

The company behind “Cyberpunk 2077” is trying to get the glitch-ridden video game back into the PlayStation store — but it’s uncertain when it might return.

Sony’s gaming unit yanked the futuristic role-playing game from its digital store last month after players reported a wide range of glitches, such as a vehicle driving through walls and characters with blurred-out faces.

Polish developer CD Projekt is working with Sony to make the title available in the PlayStation store once again, CEO Adam Kiciński told Poland’s PAP news agency on Wednesday, but the timeline for doing so hasn’t been determined.

“We have no knowledge of a specific date to return to PlayStation Store,” Kiciński told the outlet. “We are in constant contact with representatives of Sony Interactive Entertainment and we are working to ensure that our title returns to the Sony store as soon as possible.”

CD Projekt is still planning to release patches in January and February in an effort to fix the problems players have encountered, Kiciński said.

The developer offered refunds for the title last month after the widespread glitches rendered it unplayable for some gamers on older consoles like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The problems were so bad that CD Projekt was hit with a class action lawsuit alleging that the Warsaw-based company lied about the game’s unfinished state in order to protect its stock price.

“Cyberpunk” is still available for purchase in Microsoft’s Xbox store, but the tech titan has offered full refunds to anyone who bought a digital copy of the game.

Sony did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday.
